Canadian banks report shows real estate may be attractive

Canadian banks are making their year-end earnings and there are signs pointing out that the real estate prospect seem to be attractive.
Amid the effects of low oil prices on the loan records of banks, industry observers are taking a closer look at the real estate market and some analyst are sighting a ray of hope as the housing sectors can bring about a positive change.

Bank of Canada warns about huge mortgages, growing housing debt

According to CBC,

Nearly a third of recent Canadian homebuyers with so-called high-ratio mortgages wouldn’t qualify for their loans under new rules recently implemented by the federal government.

That was one of the findings of a wide-ranging report from the Bank of Canada on Thursday looking at the biggest risks facing the financial system.

Canada home resales fall in November -CREA

According to Reuters,

Sales of Canadian homes fell 5.3 percent in November from October while prices kept rising, a report from the Canadian Real Estate Association showed on Thursday.

Canada Existing-Home Sales Post Biggest Drop Since 2012

According to The Wall Street Journal,

Sales of existing homes in Canada fell 5.3% in November from the prior month, the Canadian Real Estate Association said Thursday, marking the biggest monthly decline in activity in over four years.

The industry group, which represents Canadian real-estate agents, said activity declined in about two-thirds of all local markets, including the country’s most active markets.
